3,846 exhibitors to take part in Sabasaba

DAR ES SALAAM: THE government has said a total of 3,846 local and foreign exhibitors are expected to take part in the 48th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) compared to 3,500 last year.

Industry and Trade Deputy Minister, Mr Exaud Kigahe, said on Monday that a total of 413 foreign companies will show up this year compared to 267 foreign firms that turned up last year.

He said also that this year’s Sabasaba is expected to host 353,201 visitors compared to 300,701 visitors last year.

A total of 11,712 temporary jobs will be created in this year’s edition compared to 11,687 jobs created last year. Mr Kigahe noted further that a total of 105 public institutions, eight ministries, four regions, 30 councils and 26 foreign countries will take part in the trade exhibitions.

“Most foreign companies will showcase new technologies of various machines which are needed by Tanzanians in establishing large, medium, and small industries,” said Mr Kagahe.

According to Mr Kigahe, President of the Republic of Mozambique, Mr Filipe Nyusi, and President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who will grace the opening of the Fair.

Mr Kagahe said the 26 foreign countries confirmed to participate in the exhibition include Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, Rwanda, Comoros, Zambia, Ethiopia, Congo, the DRC, Ghana, Others are Korea, Turkey, India, Japan, Singapore, Syria, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mozambique, Indonesia, Mauritius, Oman, China, Russia, Italy, Uganda, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.

“I urge local business people to use these opportunities to learn technologies to increase production and product quality as well as expand the scope of their product markets,” he said.

In addition, he said during the exhibition there will be various special events, such as the special days of the seven countries participating in the exhibition, which are China, Japan, Korea, Iran, Egypt, Russia, and India.

There will also be programmes to celebrate countries’ heritage, conference programmes B2B and corporate days that include various sectors that are organised in collaboration between the private sector and the public sector.
