A-Level, Colleges admission up by 23pc
THE government has released the list of selected students who will join Advanced Level education and colleges this year, which shows a 22.8 per cent increase compared to the previous year.
This year, all 188,128 Form Four leavers who passed by division I-III in the 2022 national examinations have been selected to join Advanced Level education or colleges thanks to the government’s efforts to improve and construct new school infrastructures.
Last year, a total of 153,219 students were selected to join Advanced Level.
The Minister of State in the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG), Angela Kairuki held a media conference yesterday afternoon to announce the release of Form Five selections in the country’s capital, Dodoma.
And, the good news is that all students who passed have been selected to proceed with Form V or join teachers colleges, technical colleges or mid-colleges.
About 192,348 (36.95 per cent) students who sat for the 2022 National Examinations passed with Division I-III out of which 188, 128 were from Mainland Tanzania.
According to Ms Kairuki, out of 188,128, about 129,830 (69 per cent) students will proceed with Advanced Level education in different public schools.
She said the remaining 58,298 (31 per cent) have been selected to pursue diploma programmes in different fields at different colleges located in different parts of the country. These will be under the National Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (NACTVET).
They include 1,645 students who have been selected to join teachers colleges in the fields of Science, Mathematics and ICTs for the diploma programme.
Other 1,877, according to the minister, have been selected to pursue different fields at different technical colleges including the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), Mbeya University of Science and Technology (MUST), Arusha
Technical College (ATC) and Water Development Management Institute (WDMI).
In the similar selection, about 1,842 form four leavers will have an opportunity to pursue a diploma course at different colleges offering medical disciplines.
Also, the minister added, 52,934 students have been selected to pursue different courses in Agriculture, Fisheries, Business and Management, among others.
Ms Kairuki said that all 129,830 students who have been selected to join Advanced Level education are supposed to report at their respective schools between August 13 and 31, 2023.
“Those who have been selected to join different colleges will receive directives and get every information from the respective colleges,” noted the minister.
Students who have been selected can download selform.tamisemi.go.tz or www.nacte.go.tz to get to know the schools and colleges where they are supposed to report, according to Ms Kairuki.
