Agro-experts to discuss fertiliser usage in Dodoma 

DODOMA: AN estimated 250 experts will gather in Dodoma for a two-day symposium on October 11-12 to discuss fertiliser usage and unveil the country’s fertiliser strategic plan.

This event is part of the celebrations for World Fertiliser Day, which takes place annually on October 13.

This year, the celebrations are scheduled to take place in Babati Town, Manyara Region.

The Tanzania Fertiliser Regulatory Authority (TFRA) Executive Director, Mr Joel Laurent told reporters in Dar es Salaam recently that the symposium aims to promote discussions on sustainable fertiliser use, policy development and technological advancements in agriculture.

Key figures from the agricultural sector, including policymakers, industry leaders, researchers, soil scientists, businesspeople and farmers are expected to share their experiences regarding sustainable agriculture, technological advancements in fertiliser use and successful case studies.

Key themes of the gathering will include fertiliser regulation and controls, efficiencies in fertiliser use, fertiliser economics and the integration of technologies and ICT in agriculture.

World Fertiliser Day is an international awareness campaign initiated by Fertiliser Europe, supported by fertiliser associations and companies worldwide. Its goal is to highlight the vital role that fertilisers play in the agricultural industry and in feeding the global population.

TFRA has been ce lebrating World Fertiliser Day since 2020, focusing on sustainable fertiliser use to enhance food security and promote soil health.

At the Babati show grounds in Manyara region, exhibitions showcasing agricultural innovations and sustainable practices will be open to people of all ages and skill levels, providing an opportunity to learn about Tanzania’s agricultural revolution in this rapidly advancing technological era.
