ALAF’s colour coating plant pace thrills Jafo

DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania will no longer need to import colored roofing sheets which it currently does, as ALAF Limited, the leading iron sheets manufacturer, is set to start producing the products locally by next year.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam , the Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Selemani Jafo expressed satisfaction with the construction progress of the colored roofing sheets plant being developed by ALAF Limited.
Minister Jafo commended ALAF when he visited the factory, where he observed the ongoing construction of the new color coating plant, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
“I am pleased with the progress made, and once production begins, it will be unique and of very high quality here in the country, as we will not need to import colored roofing sheets from abroad as we currently do,” he emphasized.
He added that this initiative will increase both direct and indirect employment for Tanzanian youth, stressing that all this has been made possible thanks to the favorable conditions set by the President of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, to promote industries and business overall.
“As a government, we are considering establishing measures to prevent the importation of products that can be produced locally, especially roofing sheets, in order to protect the domestic market,” he told reporters and ALAF management after the visit, adding that domestic production of roofing sheets currently meets local demand, so there is no need to import this product.
The minister also commended ALAF for ensuring quality and providing Tanzanians with value for the money they spend to acquire products from the company.

ALAF Limited’s Chief Executive Officer, Ashish Mistry, stated that the new plant will ensure higher quality production and will also be operated by Tanzanian youth.
“There are already 30 Tanzanian youth who have received extensive training in operating this new colored roofing plant, so we do not need to bring in people from outside,” he explained, adding that their goal is to continue being number one as the oldest roofing sheets company in the country, celebrating 62 years of establishment this year.
The Marketing Manager of ALAF Limited, Isamba Kasaka, mentioned that they expect to start production early next year and called on Tanzanians to continue supporting them by using the company’s products.
“Colored roofing sheets will now be available right here in the country once our plant is completed, so Tanzanians can expect good things next year,” he said, while also praising the minister and the government for creating a conducive investment environment, which has helped ALAF achieve its goals.
