Apply for remote posts, Ummy tells professionals

DAR ES SALAAMHealth Minister Ummy Mwalimu has urged Tanzanian healthcare professionals to take up positions in the country’s peripheral regions in an attempt to help address the severe shortage of professionals in the areas.

According to the Minister the plan will reduce the shortage by 50 per cent, improving health service delivery in numerous health centers, dispensaries, and some district hospitals.

Speaking at a commemorative symposium for the late President Benjamin Mkapa at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam on July 29, 2024, Minister Ummy assured health workers that they need not fear working in remote areas.

She emphasized that essential social services, including electricity, roads, water, and schools, are available in the regions.
