ATE, ILO launch ‘ESG state of play’ report to support workplace safety

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE), in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO), have launched the Tanzania ‘ESG State of Play’ report that aims at promoting workplace safety.

The report assesses the awareness and implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices in the country.

ATE Chief Executive Officer, Ms Suzanne Ndomba-Doran, said ESG principles have become increasingly important as they influence company practices related to environmental sustainability, social responsibility and governance.

The study that covered 10 sectors, including agriculture, finance, tourism, extraction and manufacturing identified some key challenges, including limited awareness of the ESG implementation in most businesses, calling for the need for cultural transformation to perceive the concept.

She insisted that the approach is essential for solidifying ESG practices and strengthening regulatory frameworks in Tanzania.
