Azania, Selcom partner to improve banking services

AZANIA Bank and Selcom have launched a partnership deal aimed at improving digital financial services that will help reach and provide efficient banking services to financially undeserved population.

Azania Bank Manager Digital Banking & Alternative Channels Mr Vinesh Davda said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that with the partnership Azania Bank customers will access a variety of banking services through Selcom agents in different parts of the country.

“The deal between Azania and Selcom is supporting the efforts to provide easy accessibility of banking services as well as reaching unbanked population in the country,” he said.

He said the partnership is one of the Azania Bank’s efforts to cope with the pace of the fast growing digital technology in the banking industry.

He said with the deal, Azania Bank customers will have opportunity to conduct various transactions including deposit and withdrawal with or without credit card as well as checking account balance

He said also that the initiative will help Azania Bank agents to top up balance without cost increment.

He said improvement of Azania Bank digital services will allow its customers using credits to perform wide range of banking services at different payment points without visiting the bank branches.

He said further that the signing of the deal is an important step in supporting the country’s endeavours to promote use of cashless payment systems in the economy.

For example, the partnership deal will allow its customers making various payments using credit cards like , UnionPay, Mastercard and American Express to do it at the most efficient way.

On his part, Selcom  Tanzania Business Development Manager Mr Geofrey Mwakamyanda  said the deal with Azania Bank is a clear testimony of the contribution made by Selcom in accessing banking services as well as enhancing cashless payment in the country.

“For over 20 years Selcom has been working with various financial institutions to provide agency banking in the country that has contributed greatly in reaching the unbanked population,” he said.

He added that this partnership will help Azania Bank customers to access various banking services through the bank’s agents but also accessing other banking services at their fingerprints.
