Bakrania Shines in Tanzania’s Dominant Victory

LAKSH Bakrania delivered an exceptional bowling performance, taking four wickets for just six runs in 2.1 overs, as Tanzania secured a commanding nine wicket win over Cameroon in the T20 World Cup Sub Regional Africa Qualifier Group A match in Dar es Salaam.

Bakrania’s brilliant spell enabled Tanzania to chase down Cameroon’s target of 38 runs, finishing their innings at 39/1 in just three overs.

This victory marks Tanzania’s third consecutive win in the qualifiers, showcasing their strength among the competing teams.

Previously, Tanzania triumphed over Lesotho by 18 runs in their opening match at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and outsmarted Mali by 61 runs, solidifying their position as frontrunners in the tournament.

Cameroon, having won only one of their three matches after losing to Ghana initially, bounced back to defeat Mali before facing Tanzania.

In yesterday’s match, Cameroon won the toss and chose to bat first but set a modest target of 38 runs, which Tanzania easily chased down in just three overs at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.

In other matches later that evening, Malawi bowled out Mali for just 43 runs in 17 overs, continuing their strong performance in the tournament.

The competition features six nations: Cameroon, Ghana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mali and hosts Tanzania, all competing in a league format, with each team facing the others once.

The top two teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final, a step towards the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Today’s fixtures include Ghana taking on hosts Tanzania at UDSM at 9:30 am, while Cameroon faces Malawi at 1:50 pm at the same venue.

Additionally, at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC), Lesotho will battle Mali at 1:50 pm to conclude the day’s matches.

Tomorrow’s schedule kicks off with Ghana facing Mali at DGC at 9:30 am, while Cameroon will play Lesotho at UDSM at the same time.

The day will conclude with hosts Tanzania playing against Malawi at 1:50 pm at DGC.
