Bunge committee calls for utilisation of completed infrastructure

IRINGA: THE Parliamentary Standing Committee on Regional Administrations and Local Government, Chairperson Mr Justine Nyamoga, has directed the immediate use of completed infrastructure to serve citizens as intended.

Mr Nyamoga issued these directives during the final session of the committee’s inspection tour of various health, education and infrastructure projects in Mufindi District Council and Mafinga Town Council in Iringa Region.

“There are many completed projects, especially health centres that have yet to start operations.

The committee is urging that these facilities begin providing services without further delay,” said Mr Nyamoga.

During the visit, the committee reviewed several projects, including improvements to Mafinga Hospital’s infrastructure.

These enhancements included the construction of a laundry facility, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and a maternity complex.

Additionally, the committee examined road construction projects in Mafinga Town Council, including asphalt paving for the Mwamkoa-Mbagala (0.50 km), Mdeka-Rift Valley (0.37 km), Bravo (0.19 km), and Msangarufu (0.19 km) roads.

Furthermore, the committee emphasised the need for installing streetlights on all asphalt road projects undertaken by the Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) to enhance safety, security and beautify the areas.

Ms Zainab Katimba, Deputy Minister in the President’s Office, Regional Administrations and Local Governments, who oversees education, said that the government has received all recommendations made by the Bunge committee and will effectively work on them.
