Bunge committees urge collaboration on new curricular

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Parliamentary Standing Committees responsible for health and education have advised the government to work closely with health sector stakeholders in improving the new curricula for nursing, midwifery, pharmacy and physiotherapy courses.
This call was made over the weekend, during a meeting that brought together the Parliamentary Committees on Health and HIV/AIDS as well as the Committee on Education, Culture and Sports.
The meeting included leaders and experts from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
The committees recommended that the Ministry of Health collaborate with stakeholders, ensuring that the curriculum development process adheres to the rules and regulations set by the professional councils.
Additionally, they urged the ministry to organise sessions that will educate stakeholders about the relationship between the proposed standards and content in the curricular.
Deputy Minister for Health Dr Godwin Mollel said the government will continue to involve and educating stakeholders at various stages of training management and supervision.
He said that this collaboration is crucial for improving the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.
“In the 2024/2025 fiscal year, the government, through the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, will organise stakeholder meetings for each curriculum to gather feedback that will help enhance the curricular,” said Dr Mollel.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to ensure that healthcare professionals are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve health services across the country, according to him.
The meeting is a continuation of the Parliamentary Standing Committees’ activities, running from October 7th to October 25th this year. These sessions are in preparation for the 17th meeting of Parliament, scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 29, this year.
The Parliamentary Standing Committees on Bylaws, Government Accounts (PAC), Local Government Accounts (LAAC) and Public Investment (PIC) commenced their meetings on October 7th this year. The remaining committees began on October 15th this year.
