Bunge pledges support to SME growth

DODOMA: THE National Assembly has committed to developing policies that will facilitate the growth and development of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the country.

Speaker Dr Tulia Ackson made the remarks during a meeting with the Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) Chief Executive Officer Mr Adam Mihayo yesterday.

“The growth of SMEs is critical to our nation’s economic development. Through this partnership with TCB, we can work towards creating an enabling environment that allows these businesses to flourish,” Dr Tulia stated.

She emphasised that the Parliament will continue to foster a favourable climate for SMEs to prosper, ensuring these businesses have access to the necessary resources for success.

On his part, Mr Mihayo highlighted the importance of the visit in fostering greater collaboration between TCB and the National Assembly, with a focus on supporting SME growth across the country.

“With 393 Members of Parliament representing 239 constituencies, the goal of this visit was to explore issues affecting constituents in their respective areas, making it easier for SME businesses to thrive and grow,” Mr Mihayo explained.

“These initiatives are crucial for nurturing a thriving business environment that supports financial inclusion, entrepreneurship and sustainable development,” he said.

Mr Mihayo also stressed the importance of creating solutions tailored to specific regions and communities.

“We don’t want to paint the whole country with the same brush stroke. There can’t be one solution for all, so it is best for us to listen to as many stakeholders as possible.

This approach will enable us to create regional and, where possible, village-specific solutions that cater to the needs of SMEs within their communities,” he concluded.
