CAF CL: APR see off Azam FC

KIGALI, RWANDA: Azam have missed an opportunity to step into the second preliminary round of CAF Champions League (CAF CL) after a 2-1 aggregate defeat from APR.

The Chamazi based outfits have suffered a 2-0 upset in a reverse leg match at a well attended Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda on Saturday evening.

The outcome was not friendly for the visitors to progress further in the competition despite claiming a 1-0 success in the first leg encounter at Azam Complex last weekend.

This means only Yanga will represent the country in the champions league as they have progressed to the next phase with a massive 10-0 triumph over Vital’O.

The Ice cream makers side claimed the opportunity to represent the country in the champions league after finishing on second slot in the Premier League last season.

Meanwhile, Simba will face Al Ahli Tripoli of Libya in the second preliminary round of CAF Confederation Cup (CAF CC).

The Libyan team have produced a 5-1 aggregate win over Uhamiaji of Zanzibar to set up a thrilling two-legged confederation cup encounter with the Reds.
