CAF CL slot wide open

DODOMA: SIMBA have increased their chances of finishing second in the NBC Premier League this season, after a 1-0 win over Dodoma Jiji at Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, on Friday.
Following the victory, Simba have accumulated 60 points from 27 matches, which is the same as Azam in terms of points and outings. Both are competing for the second slot, which grants the privilege to represent the country in the CAF Champions League (CAF CL).
Young Africans have already been crowned as the season’s champions, having pocketed 71 points from 27 encounters, a lead that cannot be reached by any other team on the log.
Therefore, it remains a tense race between Simba and Azam, with each targeting to secure the second slot. The remaining three matches will be decisive in determining the outcome. In the match, the visitors took the lead in the 7th minute, thanks to a spectacular strike from Freddy Michael.
Despite trailing, the hosts continued to pile pressure on Simba in search of an equaliser. However, they were unable to find the back of the net. The match ended with Dodoma Jiji remaining 11th on the ladder with 30 points after 27 duels.
