CCM hails govt for pace in execution of key projects

SIMIYU: THE ruling party, CCM, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of implementing of major strategic projects outlined in its election manifesto.

CCM’s approval is rooted in its focus on economic growth, infrastructure development, job creation and improving the quality of life for Tanzanians.

During a public meeting in Bariadi District, Simiyu Region, as part of his ongoing seven-day tour of the Lake Zone, CCM Secretary General,  Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi stated that these projects are expected to drive economic growth.

“These projects are crucial for economic development, creating jobs and enhancing infrastructure, all of which align with the party’s goals of improving the overall living standards of Tanzanians,” he said.

Ambassador Nchimbi noted that the sixth-phase government has successfully continued to implement key strategic projects, including the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) and the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP).

“Many of these projects are nearing completion, with the Julius Nyerere Hydroelectric Power Plant just one per cent away from completion and the SGR having reached Dodoma, with ongoing work,” Dr Nchimbi stated.

He emphasised the party’s commitment to guiding the government to ensure the effective completion of all major strategic projects as scheduled.

“It is essential that we continue to guide the government in executing these projects, focusing on upgrading transportation, energy and communication infrastructure, which are critical for fostering investment and trade,” he said.

He praised the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan, highlighting her capability as a leader and her dedication to the Tanzanian people.

“People desire a president who leads through action. President Samia has exemplified this by securing funding for development projects and committing to their implementation,” he added.

Dr Nchimbi stressed the need for Tanzanians to protect the nation’s peace, unity and solidarity, asserting that any attempt to disrupt this should be met with resistance.

“I will continue to emphasise that our nation’s unity and solidarity are our most valuable assets. Tanzanians must protect them at all costs. People from all political parties must recognise that our greatest asset is the peace, unity and solidarity of our nation,” he said.

The party’s Secretary for Ideology, Publicity and Training, Mr Amos Makala, reminded Simiyu residents  to register, vote and elect credible leaders during elections.

He expressed optimism that in the upcoming local government election in November 27th this year and general election next year, CCM will emerge victorious due to its solid development plans and does not rely on favouritism to win.

He urged the people to distance themselves from negative politics that focus on religion, ethnicity and sensationalism instead of substantive issues.

Simiyu Regional Commissioner Kenan Kihongosi informed the gathering that over 850bn/- has been allocated to the region for various projects, including water, health, education and road infrastructure.

He also advised the people of Simiyu to avoid violence or protests, as those inciting such actions have their own agendas.

Earlier, Bariadi MP Andrea Kudo stated that the situation in Bariadi in 2020 is vastly different from that in 2024, as the government has successfully implemented various projects related to water, health, electricity and roads.
