Chamwino State House uplifts TZ status

VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango has said that the official inauguration of Chamwino State House in Dodoma is a clear path towards attaining the country’s higher middle income economy.
The VP expressed his optimism in the country’s capital on Saturday immediately after President Samia Suluhu Hassan inaugurated the new State House, setting tone that it was now official all government’s businesses had relocated from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.
According to Dr Samia, with the new State House in Dodoma, Dar es Salaam Magogoni State House remains a place for receiving international dignitaries, insisting that the city shall also remain as a business hub.
The Head of State said that immediately after completion of the ongoing project for construction of Dodoma’s Msalato Airport, even international high profile officials will be docking in Dodoma for official matters.
on Saturday, the Vice-President who spent just four minutes at the podium said that he was optimistic that within a short period of time, Tanzania was advancing to a higher economy.
He paid tribute to all Tanzanians for their support in construction of the newly inaugurated Chamwino State House insisting:
“This State House is a great work of the brains, hands and taxes by Tanzanians, so I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate everybody,” he insisted.
Dr Mpango further asked staff at the State House to ensure that they maintain and protect the newly launched buildings at any cost so that they can help the country to realise its dreams.
For his part, Zanzibar President Dr Hussein Mwinyi commended President Samia for completion of the project.
He said the move is among the steps attained in realising the decision of the founding father of the nation Mwalimu Julius Nyerere through the Tanganyika African National Union (TANU) in 1973 to make Dodoma the seat of government.
“Right now, we are all witnessing the success of executing the 1973 TANU’s plan including today’s event of inaugurating this new State House here in Chamwino and the construction of various buildings for government offices and infrastructure including roads, railways and airports where all are in various stages of its implementation,” Dr Mwinyi underlined.
Dr Mwinyi added that the construction of the government buildings will not only improve the image of the city but also improve the working environment of public servants.
Dr Mwinyi expressed gratitude to President Samia for setting aside an office for Zanzibar President in the new State House building and allocating land for construction of offices for isles government.
“I promise, we will build the offices here in Dodoma to enable our staff to have a better working environment,” he emphasised.
In a related development, He congratulated those who participated in the successful execution of the project while giving special acknowledgement to Suma JKT and the Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA) for completing on time and with high standards.
Briefing about the Project, TBA Chief Executive Officer, Mr Daud Kundoro, said that construction of the Chamwino State House was a result of the government’s directives to shift to Dodoma through a declaration issued on July 23, 2016.
Following the directives, execution of various projects in Dodoma started immediately including the expansion and development of the Chamwimo State House.
He said the area hosting Chamwino State House was expanded from 66 acres to 8,473 acres.
“To fast track the process, President’s Office, State House commenced the construction of various buildings including administration block, the presidential residence, dispensary, the state banquet among others,” TBA boss said.
Mr Kundoro unveiled that the construction of the State House involved construction of a fence around the area.
He further detailed that, the designing of the state house buildings was done by TBA while the construction implemented by Suma JKT.
“The design of this building took into account various factors, including the consultant’s instructions to build a State House similar to that of Magogoni, Dar es Salaam, nature of the project area, the structure appearance, soil tests and others before construction began,” he underlined.
In particular, he said that the building materials used in the construction were tested for quality and verified before being used.
Moreover, he added that the execution of the project had great benefits both economically and socially adding that a total of 200 jobs were created for local experts, consultants and contractors.
Along with the implementation of the project, Kundoro said TBA and Suma JKT continue to implement various development projects including the construction of ministries buildings being built in the second phase in the government city, Mtumba, Dodoma.
