Cooperative Societies urged to strengthen leadership collaboration for efficiency

DAR ES SALAAM: Cooperative societies have been urged to enhance collaboration between their leaders and executives to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
The Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies in Dar es Salaam Region Ms Angela Nalima, made the appeal on Friday, during a workshop organized by the Regional Cooperative Commission.
The workshop aimed to prepare for the upcoming General Assembly scheduled for October.
She also revealed that out of 411 active societies, 329 are registered in the system.
However, she pointed out that a significant challenge facing these societies is the failure of members to repay loans on time.

On his part Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tudarco Saccos, Mr Danford Kitwana, said that the workshop would provide guidelines and reminders on how to effectively organize their societies’ general meetings, including setting agendas and conducting the meetings.
Secretary of the Ilala Market Produce Sellers’ Cooperative, Yassin Mtunguja praised the workshop, noting that the participants gained valuable knowledge that will assist them in educating their respective societies.
