CRDB introduces account for religious institutions

DAR ES SALAAM: CRDB Bank has introduced a special account specific for religious institutions to collect donations, tithes, and other contributions aimed at facilitating the giving of offerings to God.
The ‘Sadaka Account’ will facilitate the collection of offerings during worship or even when worshippers are unable to attend services.
CRDB Group CEO, Abdulmajid Nsekela, said on Tuesday that they have always strived to develop services and products that meet the needs and expectations of their customers across various sectors, including cultural and religious beliefs.
“Holy Scriptures say that humans were created to glorify their Creator. This is our duty throughout our lives on earth.
“In glorifying God, we are reminded to give tithes and offerings as well. Our aim at CRDB has always been to meet the expectations and needs of our customers and the community we serve,” Mr Nsekela said.
To achieve this, the bank has been innovating services and accounts that align with religious principles as well as other areas such as business, investment, and savings management.
Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), Deputy Secretary General, Father Chesco Msaga said Sadaka Account represents a revolution that will help remind Christians to give to their Creator, thereby advancing the major task of spreading the Gospel both nationally and globally.
“Human life has no meaning here on earth if one does not worship their Creator and give tithes and offerings as instructed in the Holy Bible,” said Father Msaga.
The TEC Deputy Secretary added that the opportunities provided by advancements in science and technology should be utilized by Christians to strengthen their relationship with God, with giving tithes and offerings being crucial ways to fulfill their covenant and spread the Holy Gospel.
Sheikh Hilal Shaweji—representing Chief Sheikh, Mufti Abubakar Zubery bin Ali—said the innovation will greatly benefit Muslims in contributing to offering, which is one of the essential pillars of Islam.
“Muslims are instructed to give offering and tithes. We are commanded to offer charity to help those in need and promote Islam globally,” he said.
The Sadaka Account is driven by the fact that the growth of digital economy has significantly reduced cash transactions, hence CRDB saw the importance of reaching places of worship and providing worshippers with an alternative for giving offering and making other contributions that arise frequently.
