Cricket Legends Reunion Tour concludes with exciting match

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Reunion Tour of cricket legends, both from abroad and those residing in Tanzania concluded in an exciting friendly match that ended in a thrilling draw.
The overseas team, led by Kanu Rathod the Reunion Cricket Legends of Tanzania Lead from the UK, batted first and scored 57 runs in a ten-over match held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) ground over the weekend.

In response, the local Legends, captained by Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) chairman Balakrishan Sreekumar also reached 57 runs all out, resulting in a tie.
The TCA organised the event under chairman Sreekumar, who played a significant role in the success of the second Reunion Tour.
The overseas players were Kishore Gajjar, Suresh Rawal, Pranlal Divecha, Pravin Modessa, Pradip Vanza, Max Modessa, Satish Solanki and Kanak Khetiya.
While Dar team included Dinesh Vaishnav a Reunion senior administrator, Nizar Jiwani, Bashir Tejani, Babulal Chudasama, Hassnain Tejani, Balu Patel, Viroo Kamania, Premji Pindoria, Subhash Rathod, Ratish Kamania and Savio Fernandes and Srikant Suchak to mentioned a few.
In an interview with the ‘Daily News,’ Sreekumar, on behalf of TCA, expressed gratitude for hosting the legends on a day filled with activities at DGC.
“These individuals have played for Tanzania at both club and national levels, contributing immensely to the growth of cricket in this country. We rightly call them legends.” He noted that despite their ages, travel challenges and health concerns they took the time to travel from as far as the US, Canada and the UK to participate in the tour and event.
“We ensured that the match was fair; no one wanted to win at all costs because we believe that cricket is the ultimate winner in these events.”
“We aimed to create a day for the legends to interact with the national team members, sharing ideas and experiences. It fostered a very positive atmosphere,” Sreekumar added.
He highlighted the importance of learning from these seasoned players, noting that their extensive experience would benefit the national team and emerging leaders.
