Dr Mwigulu seeks approval for 18.17tri/- spending plan

DODOMA: Finance Minister Dr. Mwigulu Nchemba tabled his ministry’s 2024/25 spending plan on Tuesday, seeking lawmakers’ approval for a total of 18.17tr/-.

Presenting the budget before the parliamentarians in Dodoma on Tuesday, the Minister said that from the requested amount, 17.63tri/- is for recurrent expenditure, which includes the government’s debt service amounting to 13.13tr/-.

Regarding the government’s debt, Dr. Nchemba said that by April this year, the Ministry succeeded in paying on-time debt claims totaling 8.48tr/-.

According to Dr. Mwigulu, the amount paid is equal to 81 percent of their annual target.

Dr. Nchemba further noted that out of the amount paid, 4.63tr/- is domestic debt, which includes an interest of 1.98tr/-, and 2.65tr/- is the capital.

The external debts amount to 3.83tr/-, including 1.34tr/- in interest and 2.49tr/- in capital.
