DRC commends TPA performance

THE Director of Customs and Excise from Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Mr Rene Masimango has commended management of the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) and its staff for   provision of efficient services.

Mr Masimango who is in-charge of the of Haut Katanga, Lualaba, Tanganyika and Lomami provinces made the remark during his visit to TPA Headquarters and Dar es Salaam Port on Thursday, accompanied by his delegates.

“Dar es Salaam Port is very important for on transit cargo destined for DRC and it handles a lot of cargo, we have come to see its performance and we have seen the great work and good arrangement of the port,” Mr Masimango said.

Earlier, the TPA Director General, Mr Plasduce Mbossa assured DRC representatives that his management is ready to solve any challenges that arise while serving cargo destined for DRC through Tanzanian ports, with the aim of protecting good and long-term diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“The management of TPA will continue to work on any challenges in serving DRC’s cargo and improve relations so that the activities carried out by TPA in its ports are beneficial to the DRC as well,” Mr Mossa said.

Tanzanian Ambassador to DRC, Mr Said Juma Mshana, said the visit is an opportunity to have a joint and productive discussion about challenges facing business relations and to find solutions for benefit of both countries.

“This visit will help promote economic and social relations, strengthening the economy of two countries and the economy of the regional communities,” Ambassador Mshana added.

DRC Ambassador to Tanzania, Mr Jean Pierre Massala said that the visit is very important for the relations between the DRC and Tanzania and it is significant to work together for benefit of the countries.

“It is good to have positive thoughts in strengthening Business between DRC and Tanzania for economic benefits for the countries and their people,” Ambassador Massala said

DRC is a leading nation for passing a large amount of cargo in Tanzanian ports especially in Dar es Salaam Port.
