Enosh clinches CDF Trophy 2024

DAR ES SALAAM: HOST golfer Enosh Wanyeche has added another prestigious title to his name, clinching victory at the 2024 NMB CDF Trophy held at the Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Golf Club in Dar es Salaam over the weekend.

This remarkable achievement comes just a week after Wanyeche’s triumph at the Lina Professional Golfers (PG) Tour Pro-Am title at the Moshi Gymkhana Club in the Kilimanjaro region.

The three-day 54 holes competition, organised by TPDF Lugalo Club in collaboration with the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), attracted over 250 male and female amateurs and professional golfers from across the country.

The national-level event was part of the 60th anniversary celebrations of the TPDF, also honouring Chief Defence Forces (CDF) General Jacob Mkunda.

Enosh impressed throughout the tournament won by two shots, finishing with a three-day total of 224 strokes. His rounds included a 75 in the opening day, followed by 72 and 77 in the subsequent rounds to secure the overall title.

Reflecting on his achievement, Enosh expressed gratitude for his support system, including his brother, professional golfer Isaac Wanyeche and sister Hawa Wanyeche.

He also thanked the TPDF Lugalo Golf Club, the tournament organisers and the national golf bodies for their continued support.

“I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who has supported my career. It was a well-organised tournament and the course was fantastic too,” said Enosh after receiving his trophy and 4m/- dummy cheque from Chief Guest General Mkunda.

 

 

Other notable performances included Isiaka Daudi and Marius Kajuna all from Lugalo, who took second and third place with totals of 226 and 230 strokes, respectively. TPC Moshi’s Ally Isanzu finished fourth with a total of 231, while defending champion Michael Massawe rounded out the top five with 233 strokes.

In the net categories, Benson William claimed the Overall Net title with a score of 134 from two rounds of 36 holes.

Division A saw Khalid Shemndolwa win with a 143 score, while Division B was claimed by John Idd, who carded 138 on count back over Godlisten Thobiko.

In Division C, Kennedy Kajuna triumphed with 141 while second place won by Gideon Reinburg with 142.

The Ladies’ title was closely contested, with Q Zhang winning on count back over Maryanne Mugo, both with 144 net.

Edmund Mndolwa claimed the senior title with a 132 net, as second place went to Joseph Tairo 140 net. While the professional category saw Nuru Mollel emerge as the winner, with Isaac Wanyeche finishing second.
