Football fraternity ‘heartbroken’ over Maneno demise

DAR ES SALAAM: THE football community is mourning the loss of Abdul Maneno, a former midfielder for Young Africans (Yanga), who passed away yesterday in Dar es Salaam.

Maneno’s death is a significant loss, but his legacy as one of Tanzania’s most decorated midfielders endures.

Iddy Moshi, a former Yanga player and teammate of Maneno, expressed pro found sadness over the loss.

He described Maneno as a talented midfielder known for his exceptional skills, professionalism and humility both on and off the pitch.

Moshi highlighted Maneno’s dedication and positive attitude as sources of inspiration for his teammates.

Ex-Yanga player Bakari Malima recalled a memorable match against Zimbabwe’s Blackpool, where Maneno’s outstanding defensive performance was crucial in a 2-2 draw.
