Geita Gold join Mtibwa Sugar to Championship

GEITA: GEITA Gold’s journey in the NBC Premier League came to an end yesterday after suffering a 2-0 defeat against Azam at the Nyankumbu Stadium in Geita.

Goals scored by Yeison Mondaza and Feisal Salum marked the end of Geita Gold’s season in the Premier League, as they will join Mtibwa Sugar in the NBC Championship next season.

Geita Gold finished the season in fifteenth place with 25 points from 30 games, while Mtibwa Sugar, who suffered a 5-1 defeat against Ihefu, finished at the bottom with 21 points.

Following the conclusion of their (Geita Gold and Mtibwa Sugar) journey, the question now arises as to whether JKT Tanzania or Tabora United will join the two teams in the championship or if they will both remain in the league if they take advantage of the playoffs.

JKT Tanzania found themselves in the playoffs after a 2-0 defeat against Simba, while Tabora United was defeated by Namungo with a score of 3-2.

The loss to JKT was a blessing for Kagera Sugar, who wwre already in the playoffs before yesterday’s game. JKT Tanzania’s loss helped Kagera Sugar increase their chances of climbing up the ladder following their 2-1 win against Singida Big Stars, securing them enough points to remain in the premier league with 34 points at tenth place.

As a result, JKT Tanzania and Tabora United will now compete in the playoffs to secure their stay in the NBC Premier League.

The playoff will consist of home and away matches.

The winner of the playoff will remain in the NBC Premier League while the loser will face the winner of the championship playoff, which currently features Biashara United, who advanced after defeating Mbeya Kwanza with an aggregate score of 4-0.
