Govt reaffirms private sector role in enhancing education
DODOMA: THE government has reaffirmed its commitment to working with various stakeholders to create a conducive learning environment for the ultimate goal of building a more educated and empowered generation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister, Dr Dotto Biteko, reaffirmed the commitment on Tuesday in Dodoma after receiving a 50m/- contribution from NMB Bank for the construction of Bunge Boys Secondary School.
“The collaboration between NMB Bank and the government serves as a model on how financial institutions can actively participate in national development goals, particularly in education, which is key to the country’s future prosperity,” he said.
Dr Biteko emphasized that by acknowledging NMB Bank’s contributions, the government underscores the importance of public-private partnerships in driving positive change in the education sector.

He expressed that the donation would bolster legislators’ efforts in constructing the school, following the successful completion of the Bunge Girls Secondary School.
“I commend the bank’s commitment to supporting Tanzanians in developmental activities, including sports. I also urge other stakeholders to support this crucial school project for our youth,” Dr Biteko said.
NMB Bank’s Chief Financial Officer, Juma Kimori, assured that the bank would continue its community contributions to support the sixth phase government’s efforts and the various initiatives driven by legislators in their constituencies.
“We have consistently supported matters of health, education, and disaster response. We will keep collaborating to drive development across communities, aiming to reach every Tanzanian,” Kimori said.
Speaking during the event, Speaker of Parliament Dr Tulia Ackson acknowledged NMB’s steadfast support and their contributions to individual constituencies.
Dr Tulia emphasized the need for continued collaboration with NMB in addressing various challenges while promoting the appropriate use of banking services across all community levels, including rural areas.
