Govt Vows Bold Investment in Education

RUVUMA: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to investing in the education sector by enhancing infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities and addressing existing challenges as the number of schools continues to grow.

During the inauguration of Namtumbo Girls’ School in Ruvuma region, named in her honour, President Samia emphasised the government’s plan to tackle the shortage of teachers in line with the increasing number of schools nationwide.

“Our top priority is to improve the well-being of our citizens through better infrastructure and services that enhance health, education and other social services. We will continue to prioritise investments in these areas,” President Samia stated.

The construction of the school symbolises the government’s desire to make a significant impact, as highlighted by a young man who performed a song during the event, wearing a T-shirt that read, “The difference is wanting to make a difference.”

“These schools are designed to empower girls to pursue careers in science. We are preparing you to enter these fields in large numbers, as there is no limit to what girls can achieve, despite their underrepresentation in science,” said President Samia.
