Highlight Vision 2025 feats, stakeholders recommend

SINGIDA: VARIOUS development stakeholders in Singida Region have advised the government to ensure that the National Development Vision 2050 includes plans for further advancing all achievements made during the implementation of the National Development Vision 2025.

The stakeholders presented their recommendations during the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) special meeting organised to collect opinions on the National Development Vision 2050 and to assess the implementation of Vision 2025.

They acknowledged the significant achievements made during the implementation of the National Development Vision 2025 but emphasised the need for improvement to achieve even more during Vision 2050 and to have a meaningful impact on the people.

“Tanzanians should take pride in the great achievements already brought by our government in various social services. Indeed, the rule of law has been an essential pillar in supporting all these successes,” said Miraji Mtaturu, a Member of Parliament for Ikungi East.

He added, “If there are any areas that did not perform well, it is due to a lack of financial resources or a shortage of human resources. As we set our goals for the National Development Vision 2050, we must strengthen these areas.”

” As Tanzanians, our strong desire should focus on improving people’s lives and strengthening the foundations laid during the outgoing Vision 2025,” he emphasised.

He urged that the National Development Vision 2050 should clearly state that primary healthcare be provided free of charge, education be free but meaningful and integrity among public servants must be emphasised more.

Singida District Council Chairperson, Mr Elia Digha, expressed the opinion that the National Development Vision 2050 should strongly emphasise irrigation farming.

Mr Innocent Msengi, Chairperson of the Iramba District Council, stressed that the goals achieved during Vision 2025 should be carried over to Vision 2050 for further implementation because some of them have just started and are only partially implemented.

Earlier, Singida Regional Commissioner Halima Dendego outlined the significant achievements made during the financial year 2023/24, stating that such successes had never been seen in previous years.

She reported that by June 30th of that year, the region received 241.7bn/-, equivalent to 105 per cent. The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) collected 13bn/-, equivalent to 101.6 per cent and the domestic revenue for all the seven councils rose to 21.32bn/-, equivalent to 101 per cent.

“As if that was not enough, all those councils received clean audit reports for the financial year 2022/2023,” she said.

Acting Assistant Administrative Secretary – Planning and Coordination, Mr Regan Mpumba, informed the gathering that the National Development Vision 2025 was launched in 2000 with the main goals of ensuring all citizens have better and prosperous lives, achieving good governance and leadership and having a competitive economy by the year 2025.
