House of Representative Committee visits NEMC

A delegation of the Zanzibar House of Representatives responsible for overseeing the Office of National Leaders has conducted an ad hoc visit to the National Environment Management Council (NEMC) in a bid to exchange experiences on environmental management.
The Committee Chairman, Mr. Machano Othman Said, told reporters in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday that members are in the Mainland to gain insights into how the SGR project adheres to environmental conservation standards.
NEMC’s Board of Directors Chairperson, Prof. Esnati Chaggu, highlighted the Council’s commitment to enforcing the Environmental Management Act and its regulations.
She stressed that NEMC is dedicated to educating the public on environmental conservation through various media platforms and social networks, aiming to enhance community awareness and participation.
“NEMC’s role is to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. We are focused on reaching out to citizens and providing them with environmental education to increase their awareness of these critical issues,” said Engineer Prof. Chaggu.
