ICTC launches ICT lab at Manushi Secondary School

KILIMANJARO: THE Director General of the Information and Communication Technology Commission (ICTC), Dr Nkundwe Mwasaga has launched a modern ICT laboratory at Manushi Secondary School located in the Kibosho West ward of Moshi, Kilimanjaro.
The launch of the ICT laboratory marks a historic milestone for the school, making it the first of its kind in the country.
It is expected to inspire over 4,000 schools across Tanzania to equip students with specialised skills in ICT.
The laboratory will also help students access a variety of books, both physically and online, making it easier to obtain diverse reading materials.
During the launch, which coincided with the school’s 15th graduation ceremony, Dr Mwasaga stated that significant progress has been made towards achieving a complete digital transformation.
“This place is set to write a significant chapter in the digital revolution. We have become accustomed to seeing ICT advancements primarily in urban areas, but now we are turning to every corner of the country to ensure that the digital economy reaches every Tanzanian, even in rural areas,” he said.

He added: “ICTC, will ensure that various training programmes are provided so that the youth here a Manushi become proficient in ICT. They will be catalysts for others to embrace ICT, as we intend for this initiative to spread to every Tanzanian,”
The ICTC board Chairperson, Professor Leonard Mselle, said the commission is at the forefront of encouraging the establishment of science and ICT labs and the development of the school.
He commended the Manushi community for their contributions, urged them to continue supporting other development initiatives, citing the construction of dormitories and a dining hall as upcoming projects.
The school’s headmaster, Hamisi Mbawa, said the presence of the project will facilitate the overall delivery of education more quickly and efficiently.
He expressed confidence that the project, which cost 52m/-, will help students gain understanding and skills in ICT, and that the modern equipment will enhance their learning and ability to adapt to contemporary life.
The QSoft Technology, Managing Director, Engineer Bahanza Amali, which developed the project, expressed his satisfaction with the promising start of the journey towards educational success through the Innovative Digital Education Solutions (IDES) project.
