IIA recognises CRDB for elevating internal audit profession

TANZANIA: CRDB Bank has been conferred with a prestigious honour by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) – Tanzania Chapter for elevating the internal audit profession through its unparalleled commitment to excellence.
CRDB has 11 members in its internal auditor team holding coveted Certified Internal Auditors(CIA) certification out of 105 countrywide.
GSM Group CEO Mr Benson Mahenya said in the aspect of strengthening governance oversight and the vital role of internal auditors, CRDB scooped awards in both categories as an institution with the leading number of IIA members and the highest number of prestigious CIA certification holders.
“With over half of its internal audit members holding a coveted certification, CRDB now stands at the apex of the profession, setting a new benchmark for proficiency and expertise.
“This achievement not only underscores the bank’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance but also reinforces its reputation as a trusted guardian of financial integrity,” Mr Mahenya, who was the chief guest during the Breakfast Forum for Chief Audit Executives organised by IIA Tanzania recently, said.
CRDB Chief Audit Executive Mr Godfrey Sigalla said the recognition lies in the bank’s unwavering dedication to fostering a culture of continuous learning and development, through strategic investments in professional development programmes.

“The bank has cultivated a team of internal auditors, equipped with the highest levels of expertise and proficiency including members with specialized profession certifications,” Mr Sigalla said.
The bank actively collaborates with industry peers and regulatory bodies to share best practices and drive continuous improvement in the field of internal audit by fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledgesharing.
