INEC asks for journalists support in PVR upgrading

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged journalists to collaborate in informing and educating the public regarding the Permanent Voter Register (PVR) upgrading exercise.
INEC Chairperson, Judge Jacobs Mwambegele, emphasised the crucial role of journalists in motivating citizens to register, upgrade, or transfer their information and encourage them to participate in the whole election process.
Judge Mwambegele told journalists recently in Dar es Salaam that communication is a major pillar in election and education processes and that media practitioners have a big role to play to ensure successful registration, upgrading and transfer of information.
He said the Commission relies on journalists to motivate citizens and ensure coverage of the PVR upgrading exercise.

He said INEC will adhere to the Constitution, election laws and related regulations during the upgrading exercise.
The ongoing series of meetings between the INEC and various stakeholders aims at enhancing understanding, provision of education and encourage participation of each eligible citizen in the process.
