INEC touts integrity among poll clerks

ZANZIBAR: THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has urged poll clerks in the Kwahani Constituency’s by-election to comply with and adhere to law, regulations and electoral body’s directives in carrying out their duties in a bid to shun complaints during the by-election in question.
Delivering an opening speech during the training of Poll Clerks held at Lumumba Secondary School located in Mjini District, Zanzibar, the INEC Commissioner, Dr Zakia Mohamed Abubakar emphasised on the importance of maintaining integrity during the entire period of the by-election.
Prior to commencement of the training, a total number of 30 trainees took an oath to keep secret and relinquish from political party membership.

The oath was taken under the supervision of the Kwahani Constituency’s Returning Officer, Ms. Safia Iddi Muhammad.
“Clerks should observe and maintain higher standards of integrity, professionalism and electoral code of conducts as well as Commission’s directives in the entire period of this by-election,” she said.
The by-election in Kwahani Constituency located in Mjini District, Mjini Magharibi Region, Zanzibar is slated for Saturday 08th June, 2024.
