Investors urged to support education for industrial growth

COAST REGION: A CALL has been made for local and foreign investors in Coast Region to invest in the education sector and provide courses that suit the fast-growing industrial sector needs in the region.
Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Mr Rashid Mchatta, made the appeal during a joint Standard Seven graduation ceremony for Kibaha Independent Primary School (KIPS), held at the Msangani Campus on Saturday.
“Our government has been supporting private sector investment in education by implementing the right policies.
It is now the right time for investors to adapt to the changes and demands of the global employment market by teaching the appropriate subjects in their schools and colleges,” he said.
He further explained that the Coast Region has more than 1,000 industries that require employees with different expertise, adding that this presents a good opportunity for education investors to offer subjects and courses that will enable graduates to secure employment in these industries.

On another note, Mr Mchatta urged parents to take proper care of their children while they await the start of secondary school next year.
He emphasised that parents must ensure their children use social media networks responsibly, stating that these platforms have become a significant source of bad behaviour among the youth.
Earlier, Kibaha Town Primary Education Officer (Academics), Mr Adnan Livamba, mentioned that a total of 6,520 Standard Seven students from 42 government schools and 29 private schools sat for the National Exams this year in the district.
He further noted that last year, the district led in exam results with a 95.3 per cent success rate.
Mr Livamba congratulated the schools’ Executive Director, Mr Yusuf Mfinanga, for utilising the opportunity provided by the government to invest well in the education sector by creating a conducive learning environment.
He urged other investors to follow this example.
He said: “The government is encouraging education investors to prioritise the creation of good infrastructure for keeping children safe, which is crucial for both their safety and academic development.”
