JK to grace Mwalimu Nyerere annual international dialogue

RETIRED fourth-phase Tanzanian President, Dr. Jakaya Kikwete is set to grace the one-day Mwalimu Nyerere International Dialogue at the Chinese-built Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Leadership School (MJNLS) in Kibaha tomorrow.
Dr. Kikwete will officially open the event, which will also feature notable participants such as Lieutenant General Anselem Sanyatwe, Head of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, and Dr. Charles Mubita, a former combatant of Namibia’s liberation movement, SWAPO. Both will present papers for discussion.
Speaking to the press in Kibaha yesterday, Professor Marcelina Chijoriga, Principal of MJNLS, stated that General Sanyatwe and Dr. Mubita are among the nine main speakers for the event. General Sanyatwe will present a paper titled “Opportunities in Sticking to Mwalimu Nyerere Leadership Course,” while Dr. Mubita will cover “The Role of Educational Ideology in Preserving Mwalimu Nyerere’s Heritage.”
Professor Chijoriga emphasized the honor of hosting both local and international dignitaries during the upcoming dialogue.
According to a released tentative timetable, other distinguished speakers include a yet-to-be-named representative from Mozambique’s ruling party FRELIMO, who will discuss “Solidarity and Pan-Africanism: A Lesson from Mwalimu Nyerere’s Total Support for the African Liberation Struggle.”
Additionally, retired Tanzania Peoples Defence Forces Senior Officer Colonel Joseph Simbakalia will explore Mwalimu Nyerere’s role in the African Liberation Struggle.
Comrade Suo Peng, Deputy Head of Mission at the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, will also present a paper titled “Building Bridges: The Ongoing Impact of Mwalimu Julius Nyerere’s Support for African Liberation Movements on Africa’s International Relations.”
Other speakers include Comrade Stephen Wassira, a seasoned politician and retired Tanzanian government official, who will address “Mwalimu Nyerere’s Vision for Africa’s Economic Self-Reliance.”
The CCM National Deputy Secretary General (Mainland), Comrade John Mongela, will conclude the event with a vote of thanks.
The dialogue has attracted over 200 participants from South Africa, China, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Kenya, Ghana, the Nordic states, the African Union, Nigeria, and beyond.

The Mwalimu Julius Nyerere School of Leadership is co-owned and operated by the ruling parties of Zimbabwe (ZANU-PF), Angola (MPLA), Mozambique (FRELIMO), Tanzania (CCM), Namibia (SWAPO), South Africa (ANC), and the Communist Party of China (CPC) as a friendly partner to the six ruling parties.
Tanzania is recognized as the home of various former Organization of African Unity (OAU) recognized liberation movements, including Angola’s MPLA and UNITA, Zimbabwe’s ZANU-PF and ZAPU-PF, and South Africa’s ANC and PAC, among others.
