JKT Stars, Mchenga Star seal Basketball Dar es Salaam League victories

DAR ES SALAAM: JKT and Mchenga Star continued their impressive form in the Basketball Dar es Salaam League (BDL), with notable victories on Thursday evening at Don Bosco, Upanga.

JKT demonstrated their dominance on the court, delivering a decisive 85-55 victory over Crown, who are struggling at the bottom of the standings.

Emanuel Chacha led the charge for JKT with a standout performance, scoring 18 points, grabbing 6 rebounds, blocking 7 shots and adding 2 assists.

Despite their win, JKT remains in 4th place with 44 points from 25 games, trailing leaders Dar City and second-placed UDSM Outsiders, who are tied at 48 points and third-placed Savio with 45 points.

In a thrilling men’s match, Mchenga Star secured a convincing 82-63 win, with league top scorer Amin Mkosa once again making his mark. Mkosa scored 23 points, contributed 6 rebounds, 4 steals and assists, further solidifying his position as the leading scorer with 458 points.

This win keeps Mchenga Star in 5th place with 42 points from 24 games, while ABC remains in 7th place with 39 points from 23 matches.

In the Women’s Division, JKT Stars edged out Jeshi Stars with a 64-59 victory.

Jesca Ngisaise led JKT Stars with an impressive 48 points, including 7 three-pointers and 4 rebounds.

This win lifts JKT Stars to 5th place with 42 points from 22 games, moving up from 7th and distancing themselves from the danger zone.

Jeshi Stars, now in 6th place, also have 42 points but from 24 games.

The league’s Technical and Competition Director assured that the annual competition, played over two legs before the playoffs, is progressing smoothly.

On Thursday evening, four men’s teams were also in action: KIUT faced Vijana City Bulls at 06:00 pm, followed by a clash between leaders Dar City and bottom side Chui at 08:00 pm at the Don Bosco Upanga venue.
