Kilimanjaro RAS, driver perish in car crash

KILIMANJARO: KILIMANJARO Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), Tixon Nzunda , has passed away along with his driver in a car crash that occurred at the junction of Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) while on a tour in the region.

Kilimanjaro Regional Commissioner (RC), Mr Nurdin Babu told reporters yesterday that the accident happened between 2 to 3 PM in the afternoon.

“It is true that the RAS and his driver have passed away after their car crashed while leaving KIA. I am also heading to the accident scene,” RC Babu said.

Shortly before the accident, Nzunda was in a meeting with development stakeholders from Namibia held at the Regional Commissioner’s office conference hall.

Before being appointed the RAS for Kilimanjaro Region, the late Nzunda was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries.

He also served as the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Education)- PO- Regional and Local Government Administration.

He also served as Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) of Rukwa Regional Secretariat, Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) at the President’s Office Public Service Management, Secretary for Public Service Leaders, Ethics Secretariat and Principal Administrative Officer at the President’s Office – Public Service Management.
