Kombo represents Samia in CHOGM

APIA, Samoa: MINISTER for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mr Mahmoud Kombo has represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the ongoing Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Apia, Samoa.
He arrived on Tuesday in Samoa and was received by the host country’s Minister for Finance, Mr Lautimuia Vaʻai.
The meeting will be concluded on Saturday.
Key agenda in the high-level gathering includes electing the new Secretary General of the Commonwealth.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation statement which was released on Tuesday, the Heads of State will discuss investment, gender equality, climate change, economy, democracy and peace issues while seeking collective consensus for sustainable development at large.
“The meeting will uncover challenges and member states’ expectations towards sustainable development. Tanzania as member state is poised to reap benefits in various sectors such as investment, climate change mitigation, resilient economy and experience exchange,” read the statement.
The Common Wealth is comprised of 56 member states.
After arriving, Mr Kombo also held meetings with the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Mr Gaston Browne and the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Seychelles, Mr Sylvestre Radegonde.
The theme of the meeting is “One Resilient Common Future: Transforming Our Common Wealth”.
