Mhagama stresses streamlined health services

DODOMA: MINISTER for Health Ms Jenista Mhagama has directed the health department to improve coordination among all health systems to streamline medical services for both domestic and international referrals.
Ms Mhagama issued the directives during a meeting with the medical department of the Ministry of Health. The meeting was held to introduce herself, clarify the department’s responsibilities and assess its performance.
“It is crucial to establish robust systems. By October, we expect the health systems to be well-coordinated to facilitate quick access to medical services, including specialist referrals both domestically and internationally. This includes ensuring the availability of patient information,” she stated.
“Let us remember that all our work is done on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan. She oversees all public servants and by performing our duties effectively, we honour her and implement her directives,” she further emphasised.
The minister also highlighted the need for a system to monitor information about traditional medicines alongside the coordinated health systems.
She praised the staff for their dedication and excellent service, particularly in specialist areas and encouraged them to continue their diligent work and support each other to achieve optimal results.
The Ministry’s Director of Medical Services, Dr Hamad Nyembea, provided an update on the Medical Department. He assured the Minister that efforts are ongoing to ensure high-quality and standard health services across the country.
“We strive to provide all necessary services domestically. However, if patients need to go abroad, we are working to ensure local hospitals are equipped to handle such cases,” said Dr Nyembea.
He also revealed plans for the Ministry of Health to establish a large modern hospital dedicated to traditional healing services in the country.
