Minimise transportation delays, UDART urged

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister of State in the President’s Office, Regional Administration and Local Government, Mr Mohamed Mchengerwa, has urged the UDA Rapid Transit Public Limited Company (UDART) and Dar Rapid Transit Agency (DART) to simplify access to fare cards and reduce transportation delays.

He made the remarks on Monday in Dar es Salaam during the launch of the new fare cards, which will be used by citizens commuting in the buses.

“The new electronic fare card system aims to address payment challenges and improve fare collection,” he stated.

He explained that passengers can add credit to their cards, facilitating quicker travel and contributing to national economic growth.

Mr Mchengerwa emphasised that the initiative would eventually expand to Dodoma, Arusha, and Mbeya.

He encouraged DART and UDART executives to promote local investment in by adding more buses.

He also urged the executives to ensure their staff perform well and address operational issues within the sector.
