Mweka hosts meeting for conservationists

KILIMANJARO: THE College of African Wildlife Management, Mweka (CAWM) is hosting the Fourth Africa Congress for Conservation Biology (ACCB).
The ACCB is scheduled to take place from today through October 21 at the college that is located at Mweka Village, Kibosho Division of the Moshi Rural District, Kilimanjaro Region.
A statement released by CAWM Principal Public Relations Office, Mr Ernest Emmanuel, had it that the event, the largest gathering of African conservationists, will bring together over 300 delegates, including academics, policymakers, local community leaders, practitioners, protected areas’ staff, artists, students, and journalists.
He noted that the Guest of Honor is expected to be the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Pindi Chana.
The ACCB 2024 provides a unique platform for stakeholders to unite and share cutting-edge research, practical lessons, and innovative tools that shapes successful conservation practices across the continent.
The Congress will be an invaluable opportunity for attendees to explore strategies to advance conservation in Africa and collaborate on solutions that protect Africa’s diverse ecosystems.

“For three days, delegates will engage in dynamic discussions and networking, forging new partnerships that will inspire and empower future conservation efforts. This gathering promises to drive impactful conservation initiatives aimed at safeguarding Africa’s rich biodiversity for generations to come,” Mr Emmanuel concluded.
Mweka offers undergraduate programmes that are captivating and interdisciplinary designed to equip students with knowledge and skills necessary to explore, protect, and promote natural wonders of our world.
The dynamic programmes offer a unique blend of tourism and wildlife management, catering to individuals passionate about both the conservation of the planet’s diverse ecosystems and the sustainable growth of tourism industry.
It also offers Bachelor Degree in Wildlife Management that prepares middle-level wildlife managers for various sectors, including government, NGOs, local communities, private companies and international agencies.
There is also a Bachelor Degree in Tourism Management that provides middle-level tourism officers with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in various sectors, including government, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), local communities, private companies, and international agencies.
The objectives of the programme are to equip students with knowledge and practical competencies for effective tourism management, facilitate individual learning.
