Mwinyi to attend International Year of the Family in Doha

DOHA, Qatar: Zanzibar President, Hussein Ali Mwinyi has flown to Doha, Qatar to attend the 30th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family as the country aims to further promote the development and welfare of its people.

According to information from the Isle’s Presidential Communication Unit, the three-day conference begins on October 29 to 31 this year.

The 30th Anniversary of the International Year of the Family is a timely moment to reflect on the important role that families play in upholding and protecting human rights across the world.

On 25 September 2024, the 25th meeting of the 57th session of the Human Rights Council took place, with a panel discussion focusing on the implementation of Member States’ obligations regarding the role of the family in supporting the human rights of its members.

The discussion was mandated by the resolution adopted by the Human Rights Council on 12 October 2023 (HRC res. 54/17).
