Nabi insists on marksmanship

YOUNG Africans coach Nasreddine Nabi has urged his players to make full use of each scoring opportunities that emerge during their CAF Confederation Cup second leg final match versus USM Alger today.

The two teams go head-to-head at Stade in Algers, Algeria today in a judgment match as the new Confederation Cup champions will be declared at the sound of the last whistle.

Until now, it is the hosts who have an upper hand to put hands on the glittering trophy after recording a 2-1 success in the first leg duel at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.

“We know that it is going to be another difficult match for both teams as this determines who clinches the championship but we are prepared for the challenge.

“The most important thing is for us to utilise well each scoring chance that comes because if we get an early goal, it will boost morale to my players and create a sense of belief among them,” he said.

Moreover, the Tunisian tactician remarked that they have managed to learn many things from the first leg encounter saying it will help them in today’s match.

“We had enough time to analyse the first final match in Dar es Salaam and there are some details which I believe are essential to help us do well and we need to work hard for it,” Nabi said.

He then seized the platform to encourage Tanzanians to wish well their team wherever they are so that in the end, they should be able to stamp the much-needed victory.

“We have to score more goals to increase our chances of winning the CAF championship,” cemented Nabi.

His counterpart for USM Alger Abdelhak Benchikha admitted that the game is still wide open for either side to clinch the season’s confederation cup silverware.

“This is a new match…we must take all precautions to make sure that we again emerge winners for the second time in a row though we are aware that our opponents should not be taken for granted,” he said.

Benchikha’s men have placed one hand on the title after securing a 2-1 win meaning that they just need to avoid defeat to reach at the Promised Land.

Coincidentally, it was their first away victory in the competition and for Yanga, they suffered their first home defeat of the campaign.

Both teams are searching for an opportunity to grab the CAF title for the first time in their respective club history.

It has been a long trip for the duo to reach at this stage as they are too close to embrace the championship.
