NBC Bank Celebrates ‘Kariakoo Derby’ with Customers, Proud of Enhancements in the NBC Premier League.

DAR ES SALAAM: October 20, 2024 – The National Bank of Commerce (NBC), proud main sponsor of the NBC Premier League, lit up the football scene over the weekend with the highly anticipated clash between Simba and Yanga, affectionately known as the ‘Kariakoo Derby.’

The bank organized a series of engaging events for football fans and customers, creating a vibrant atmosphere for stakeholders to come together and enjoy the match.

In a gesture of appreciation, NBC hosted a delightful luncheon at the Four Points Hotel in Dar es Salaam for selected customers who passionately support both teams.

In addition, the bank arranged for these guests to travel in a special convoy to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, where they enjoyed the excitement of the match from the VIP section.

The thrilling encounter concluded with Yanga SC securing a victory over Simba SC, finishing 1-0.

Leading the charge in these celebrations were senior officials from NBC, including Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Rayson Foya.

He took the opportunity to present the esteemed Man of the Match award to Maxi Nzengeli from Yanga SC, a moment witnessed by thousands of fans in the stadium and many more who tuned in via live television broadcasts.

To ensure that even more fans could partake in this momentous occasion, the bank set up large screens at various locations across Dar es Salaam.

Notably, the popular Hoppipola restaurant in Masaki welcomed guests to come together and watch one of the largest matches in Tanzania and the East African region.

During a luncheon discussion about this initiative, Mr. Godwin Semunyu, Head of Communications and Public Relations at NBC, emphasized that the efforts are part of the bank’s ongoing celebrations for Customer Service Month.

By leveraging the beloved sport of football, NBC continues to build strong relationships with its customers while enhancing their appreciation for their clubs and the sport as a whole.
