Nkasi residents urged to apply electricity through mobile app

THE Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) in Nkasi district of Rukwa region has asked rural residents to apply for electricity connectivity through the ‘Nikonekt App’.

The Nikonekt app is a system that enables TANESCO costumers to apply for power services connection using a smart phone. The application also enables customers to track submitted applications provide emergency information, make non electronic applications, lodge complain and make various inquiries.

Nkasi District TANESCO Manager, Engineer Jackson Mollel made the call during a special councilors’ full council meeting recently held in Namanyere Township which discussed and approved the 2023/24 budget.

“Citizens should take advantage of this opportunity via their phones, it is an easier and more effective systems as the government is attempting to reduce cost and time that citizens use seeking for the services,” noted Eng Mollel.

In the same vein Eng Mollel went ahead to say; “at only 27,000/- they get connected to electricity. They should use this opportunity because the project nears completion.”

However, Eng Mollel urged members of the public to safeguard electricity infrastructures since the government spends a lot of money in executing such projects.

Equally, Eng Mollel urged citizens that they should make sure that they use reputable and right technicians when doing wiring in their houses.

He further told the councilors that the district has 90 villages and 28 wards out of which 63 villages equivalent to the total number of villages have been connected with electricity through projects undertaken by Rural Energy Agency (REA) and TANESCO.
