NMB out to woo Far East tourists

NMB Bank has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitate wooing tourists from the Far East especially China to the country by offering top-notch banking services and solutions to meet their expectations.

NMB Chief Human Resources Officer Emmanuel Akonaay said the bank has already partnered with various players in the tourism sector including Zanzibar Commission for Tourism (ZCT) as part of its efforts to drive the rapid and sound growth of the industry.

“We know that customers need flexible, convenient, readily available financial services coupled with tailor-made business solutions and we read to offer products that fulfil customers’ needs,” Mr Akonaay said.

He noted that as part of efforts to ensure convenience in the tourism sector value chain, the bank in partnership with the Tanzanian Embassy in China, ZCT and Omnihorizon Group established Tantour, an online tourism marketing platform aimed at engaging tourists from the Far East specifically Chinese tourists given the fact that Beijing has the highest number of outbound tourists worldwide.

NMB has a dedicated Chinese desk to handle Chinese Customers and has a strong relationship with banks in China including ICBC, Bank of China and Bank of Communication.

“We have recently introduced the Chinese yuan account where and we are capable of supporting loans and guarantees for a single borrower up to135 million US dollars,” he said.

The Chairman of the Zanzibar Association of Tourism Investors (ZATI) Rahim Bhaloo said during the event Zanzibar is a secured tourist destination with all the necessary facilities.

Earlier the Executive Secretary of the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism Hafsa Mbamba said “This is just the beginning of our fruitful collaboration between the two nations Tanzania and China”.

The Head of the Chinese Tourist Operators delegation Bella Huang showered praises on the country’s tourism potential pledging to lure more Chinese tourists to come to Tanzania in the next few months.

“We have been here for four days and we have really enjoyed every bit of it. Zanzibar is so beautiful and the sea looks so cool. We will strive to ensure that we bring more tourists to Tanzania,” Huang said.
