NMB’s rural banking services delight BoT

DAR ES SALAAM: BANK of Tanzania (BoT) Governor, Mr Emmanuel Tutuba, has said the NMB Bank’s rural banking services programme is a right initiative in boosting the country’s financial inclusion.

The Governor made the remarks over the weekend when he visited the NMB booth at the ongoing ‘Sabasaba fair’ taking place along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.

“You are doing a good work,” Governor Tutuba said while recognising the NMB’s rural banking services programme

NMB programme aims to reach 1,000 villages in the country and open at least 1,500,000 accounts by the end of this year.

The NMB Bank Digital Payments Manager, Ms Eva Koni said the lender’s campaign to reach over 1000 villages is part of the bank’s long-term commitment to bridge the unbanked gap and the reception so far is pleasing.
