Nyang’hwale surpasses 2022/23 revenue collection targets

Geita : NYANG’HWALE District Council in Geita Region has exceeded by 107.7 per cent the goal of revenue collection during the 2022/23 financial year

The council has approximately collected 3.29bn/- as opposed to the 2.64bn/- target that is equivalent to 107.4 per cent.

Acting Director of the council Mr Majagi Maiga, revealed this recently when he presented a report to the council over implementation of development projects for the fourth quarter of the financial year 2022/23.

He noted that during the financial year the council also received 6.2bn/- from the central government for projects implementation in the health, education, environment and water sectors and so far, 25 projects have been completed by 100 per cent.

He added that, in the financial year 2022/23, the council spent 260m/- for lending 105 groups of entrepreneurs, 194.3m/- being from its own sources of revenue and 65.6m/- is repaid money from other loaners.

Women’s groups have been loaned 104m/-, youth groups also 104m/-, and people with disabilities were loaned 65m/-.

Mr Majagi further explained that in order to increase efficiency and performance, the council has hired 214 new employees of various cadres while 209 employees have been promoted and 12 employees have changed cadres.

Nyang’hwale District Council Chairman Mr John Izack promised to strengthen supervision on the financial, administration and planning committee to strengthen the collections and stable use of revenues.
