Oryx extends helping hand to families with needy children

ARUSHA: FAMILIES with the needy children got a helping hand from the Oryx Gas Tanzania Limited (OGTL) which donated 600 gas cylinders to such households in Arusha Region to get clean cooking energy.

Apart from being the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the support also meant to contribute to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to boost the use of the clean energy in the country.

Speaking at an event, organised by Arusha Urban MP Mrisho Gambo, to supply the gas cylinders to families having children with disabilities, Company’s Manager Peter Ndomba said the donation was part of support that the company gives to underprivileged families.

“We (Oryx) have been effectively participating in ensuring that we support President Dr Samia’s initiative for clean cooking. We have been collaborating with various Members of the Parliament in empowering citizens to get free cooking gas cylinders and stoves,” Mr Ndomba stated.

Giving his remarks, Mr Gambo thanked various stakeholders for donating Oryx gas cylinders to families having children with special needs.

“I thank the Oryx for this support upon my request, the gas cylinders would make it easy for them to cook and save time and money spent in looking for bad cooking energy,” the MP stated.

As an area MP, he said he has been convincing stakeholders to support the needy families in the region.

“For instance, we have a system of paying for health insurance cover for the needy people.”

In this, at least 600 children have their health insurance cover paid by different individuals.

Out of them, the MP paid for 210 children, a businessman Atul Mittal paid for 100 children and Mr Satbir Hans Paul and his friends also paid for 100 children.

The Arusha City through its director Juma Hamsini paid for the remaining 200 children.

For his part, Deputy Health Minister Dr Godwin Mollel also commended an MP for his love to the Arusha residents, urging him to continue implementing the CCM’s election manifesto (2020-2025) in his constituency.

Dr Mollel stated that the Six-Phase Government has continued improving the health sector by purchasing various modern medical equipment for treating chronic diseases that previous the patients had to seek treatment abroad.
