Over 100 graduate engineers benefit from skill-building programme

DAR ES SALAAM: OVER 100 graduate engineers from Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Njombe and Iringa have benefitted from a programme by the Seris Foundation aimed at nurturing young talents in the engineering sector.

The initiative, conducted over four days in Dar es Salaam, wanted to equip participants with essential skills for their professional careers and entrepreneurial endeavours.

Speaking during programme conclusion session, one of the beneficiaries, Engineer David Nguda expressed his satisfaction with the training, highlighting its impact on his networking opportunities.

“I have successfully connected with various individuals who have different developmental perspectives, which are beneficial to the community. I will ensure I utilise this opportunity effectively to advance as a young engineer,” he stated.

Eng Nguda participated in the Youth Engineers Programme at the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), which focused on empowering young engineers with crucial competencies.

On her part, Irine Nestory, a computer science engineer, noted that the programme opened her eyes to the myriad opportunities available to engineers.

“I have realised there are various entrepreneurial and innovative prospects for young engineers; all we need to do is to believe in our projects,” she asserted.

The programme specifically targeted engineers registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB), with the overarching goal of fostering a mindset conducive to success in both technical work and entrepreneurship.

Seris Foundation CEO CPA Debora Wami stressed on the importance of the initiative, noting the high number of recent engineering graduates facing unemployment.

“We aim to empower them economically and foster ideas that will drive change in our country,” she said.
