Paris 2024: TZ envoys seek tickets today

TANZANIA’S amateur boxers; Zulfa Yusufu and Mohamed Abdallah will be on the ring today to vie for slots in the qualifying bouts for Olympic Games of Paris, France next year.
Both pugilists are competing in Africa Boxing Qualifier round of 16 at Dakar Arena in Senegal to seek a place in the Paris Games.
Zulfa is pitted against Adeiola Oyesiji of Nigeria in the women’s bout as Mohamed Abdallah will exchange punches with Egyptian, Abdallah Saied Emam.
The continental qualifying events for Paris Games commenced on September 9th and will climax this Friday at the same venue.
Tanzania began its campaign to seek the Paris Games ticket on a high note with two of its boxers excelling to the round of 16.
Zulfa Yusufu and Mohamed Abdallah are the two envoys who excelled in the qualifier’s opening bouts at Dakar Arena.
Zulfa beat Grace Nankinga of Uganda by a unanimous decision from the judges in a flyweight category round of 32.
In the men’s flyweight category, Abdallah defeated Patrick Fernandes of Cape Verde with a 4-1 decision in the round of 32.
On the same day, Tanzania boxer, Salum Mwalami lost to Idriss Kitangila of the Democratic Republic of Congo in a very close margin in the featherweight category. Kitangila won 3-2.
According to the Olympic website – 18 Olympic quotas are at stake. There is one men’s quota available in each of the seven weight classes and two quotas up for grabs in each of the women’s weight classes, except only a single spot is available in the 75kg division.
