Pastoralist injures school teacher

KAGERA: MULEBA District Commissioner (DC) Dr Abel Nyamahanga has directed the Police Force to investigate and take action following a recent incident whereby a pastoralist allegedly assaulted a teacher.

According to reports, the incident occurred after the pastoralist grazed his cattle on a school compound, an act that was opposed by the school teacher.

He identified the victim as Dioniz Peter, a teacher at Bunywagongo Primary School in Muleba District who is currently admitted to Bukoba Regional Referral Hospital (BRRH) where he is said to be in stable condition.

However, he cautioned citizens to avoid taking the law in their own hands, instead they should report suspects to nearest police stations for necessary action.

Muleba District Secretary under the Tanzania Teachers’ Union (TTU), Mugisha Kilembe, on the other hand, urged the police to speed up investigations and arraign the suspect in court.

“We have reports that the suspect (name withheld) is still walking scot-free. This has angered many teachers following the incident that happened on Friday morning,” he said.
